Roberto Plano
Roberto Plano is an internationally acclaimed pianist whose lyricism has earned him the title “Pavarotti of the Piano” (The Chronicle). First Prize Winner of the 2001 Cleveland International Piano Competition and a finalist in the Van Cliburn, Mr. Plano has performed at world-class venues including Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall, and the Herkulessaal. He has appeared as a soloist with orchestras worldwide under the baton of conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner and James Conlon.
A prolific recording artist, Mr. Plano has released over 20 CDs, including a notable DECCA Classics debut. His performances are frequently featured on NPR’s Performance Today. Beyond the stage, he is one of the world’s most sought-after pedagogues. Currently, he serves as Professor of Piano and Chair of Keyboard Studies at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (Lugano) and International Visiting Professor at the Royal Northern College of Music (UK). He is a frequent juror for elite competitions, including the Van Cliburn and Cleveland, and has been praised by The New York Times for his “artistic maturity” and “wonderful clarity.”
