Nadezhda Skokova

Born in Yekaterinburg, Nadezhda Skokova is a distinguished violist and educator with a rich background in both modern and historical performance. She began her musical studies at the Specialized Music School of the Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory, originally training as a violinist before focusing dedicatedly on the viola under the tutelage of Professor Aleksey Silaev. She earned her Master’s degree from the prestigious Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, specializing in Ancient and Modern Performing Arts.

Nadezhda’s orchestral career is marked by her leadership as the principal violist for the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Moscow Philharmonic. Her expertise earned her a dual appointment as an orchestral artist and university instructor at Bilkent University in Turkey, though she chose to continue her distinguished tenure in Moscow. After relocating to the United States, she furthered her artistic development at Columbus State University and served as a teaching assistant at both the Tchaikovsky Conservatory and Columbus State.

A seasoned international performer, Nadezhda has toured extensively across Russia and worldwide, appearing at major music festivals and chamber projects. She has collaborated with legendary conductors such as Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Yuri Temirkanov, Plácido Domingo, and Valery Gergiev. Her stage experience includes performances alongside world-renowned soloists, including Anne-Sophie Mutter, Denis Matsuev, and Boris Berezovsky.

Now based in the Bay Area, Nadezhda continues to perform and share her expertise as a faculty member at the Pleasanton Academy of Music.
