Paul Bornhauser is a pianist, composer, and musicologist based in Munich, Germany. He began his musical journey in early childhood as a singer and served for many years as a soloist with the renowned Tölzer Knabenchor, one of Europe’s most prestigious boys’ choirs. Through this experience, he performed on leading international concert stages and in major opera houses, gaining professional artistic experience from a young age.
Alongside his vocal training, Paul studied piano and composition, developing a deep interest in musical form, structure, and artistic expression—elements that continue to shape both his performance and teaching philosophy.
In recent years, he has focused increasingly on piano performance, appearing in solo recitals and chamber music concerts. His playing is known for its musical depth, expressive clarity, and stylistic refinement. He was awarded the Gourari Academy Prize at the Musikpodium München competition in recognition of his outstanding artistic achievement and creative potential.
Paul currently studies Musicology (Musikwissenschaft) at university, combining performance activity with academic work in music history, analysis, and aesthetics. This balance of artistry and scholarship gives him a broad and thoughtful perspective on interpretation.
As a teacher and master class instructor, Paul works with musicians of different ages and levels, with a strong focus on musical thinking, conscious sound production, stylistic awareness, interpretation, and developing an authentic artistic voice. His background as a performer, composer, and scholar allows him to teach in a structured, insightful, and inspiring way.
